Th\u00e9tis \u00e9tait la fille de N\u00e9r\u00e9e et de Doris. Elle \u00e9tait une N\u00e9r\u00e9ide, divinit\u00e9 marine, et elle fut \u00e9lev\u00e9e par H\u00e9ra. Elle fut tr\u00e8s serviable envers les dieux. Reconnue pour sa gentillesse, elle \u00e9tait en plus tr\u00e8s belle, au point que Zeus et Pos\u00e9\u00efdon voulurent l’\u00e9pouser.
\nTh\u00e9mis ayant fait la pr\u00e9diction que le fils qu’elle mettrait au monde serait plus fort et plus grand que son p\u00e8re, les dieux la mari\u00e8rent \u00e0 un mortel du nom de P\u00e9l\u00e9e. Th\u00e9tis r\u00e9pugna \u00e0 cette union et s’enfuit. Pel\u00e9e la poursuivit et avec l’aide du Centaure Chiron il la rejoignit et finit par la conqu\u00e9rir. On avait oubl\u00e9 d’inviter \u00c9ris (La Discorde) qui pourtant vint \u00e0 la f\u00eate et lan\u00e7a une pomme d’or sur laquelle \u00e9tait inscrit “A la plus belle” et qui donnerait lieu ensuite \u00e0 la guerre de Troie!bIls eurent sept enfants. Th\u00e9tis tenta de les d\u00e9livrer de leur essence mortelle mais sans y r\u00e9ussir. Elle tenta de sauver l’un d’eux, Achille, qu’elle plongea dans le fleuve Styx en le tenant par un talon. Ce qui le rendit presque invuln\u00e9rable et elle le cacha \u00e0 la cour de Lycom\u00e8de roi de Scyros. Plus tard elle conseilla \u00e0 Achille de me pas combattre car on lui avait pr\u00e9dit la mort de son fils. Mais Achille n’ob\u00e9it pas et trouve la mort en recevant une fl\u00e8che dans le talon. Apr\u00e8s la mort d’Achille, Th\u00e9tis retourna trouver ses soeurs au fond de la mer.<\/p>\n

Thetis was the daughter of Nereus and Doris. She was a Nereid, a sea deity, and was raised by Hera. She was very helpful to the gods. Known for her kindness, she was also very beautiful, so much so that Zeus and Poseidon wanted to marry her. Themis predicted that the son she would bear would be stronger and taller than his father, so the gods married her to a mortal named Peleus. Thetis was averse to this union and fled. Peleus pursued her and, with the help of the Centaur Chiron, reached her and eventually conquered her. They had forgotten to invite Eris (Discord), who nevertheless came to the party and threw a golden apple inscribed “To the fairest,” which would later lead to the Trojan War! They had seven children.
