Pendentif collier laiton ambiance elfique serti Labradorite. Akrisius, king of Argos, had gone to Delphi to find out if he would have a son to succeed him on the throne, and received an oracle which specified that he would be killed by his grandson. Out of fear, he locked his daughter Danae in a cave to isolate her. Zeus saw through the subterfuge and impregnated Danae. King Akrisius could not kill his daughter, beloved by Zeus, nor the child, son of Zeus, because he risked the god’s wrath. So he let destiny make its choice, he put his daughter and the child in a chest and placed it in the open sea so that it would be carried by the currents far from Argolis. Winds and currents would have carried the chest to the shores of Seriphos. Danea and her son were welcomed by Dictys, one of the two kings of Seriphos. Life was to pass peacefully and Perseus became a young man. Podylectes, the other king of Serifos, loved Danae but she rejected his advances. Perseus’ presence was a hindrance to his designs, so he sent Perseus, son of Danae, to kill Medusa. He was certain that Perseus would be transformed into stones by Medusa and thus he would take revenge on Danae. But Perseus had a shield given by Athena that looked like a mirror and a sword given by Hermes. In front of the jellyfish, he protected himself from its gaze which reflected the light and dazzled the horrible gorgon, the moment necessary to be able to cut off its head. He carried it in a bag and, returning to the palace of King Podylectes, took out the head of Medusa and transformed the king and the island into stone. Perhaps this myth is also an explanation for the ancient Greeks of the aridity of the island of Serifos (Serifos means acid).

Brass necklace pendant with elven atmosphere set with Labradorite.
