Its story is told in particular in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter. Persephone is a very beautiful woman, and her mother Demeter secretly educates her in Sicily, her favorite island, where the young girl is safe. In the woods of Enna (or in the woods of Mysa according to some), Persephone is entertained in the company of nymphs, the Oceanids. There, she is noticed by the powerful Hades, her uncle, who wishes to make her his queen. He kidnaps the young girl who with a cry alerts her mother, but she arrives too late. Nobody having seen anything, Demeter will go in search of his only daughter for nine days and nine nights before declaring: “The Earth will be hungry until I find my daughter”. Helios, the Sun, will then decide to reveal to Demeter that Hades has kidnapped his daughter. The goddess will go to the Underworld in order to get her, but Hades will refuse to return her. The case is brought before Zeus. Zeus is not able to make a decision because he does not want to offend either Demeter or Hades. Zeus thinks that Persephone must stay in the Underworld. However, he decides to make a compromise. The young girl will spend six months (the autumn and winter periods) alongside her husband as Queen of the Underworld. The other six months of the year, she will return to Earth and Olympus as Korah, to restore joy to her mother, causing spring and summer. Demeter, she wanted to take advantage of her daughter for more than 6 months a year. She therefore took as an argument that Persephone was her daughter and would have wanted her to stay eight months on earth and four months in the Underworld. Zeus and Hades agreed. Persephone seems to have accepted her role as Queen of the Dead, since in legends she always acts in agreement with her husband. She is even tough and inflexible. However, some authors do not recognize her as the daughter of Demeter, but as that of the Styx, and according to them, Persephone has always been the goddess of the Underworld.

Asymmetric articulated stainless steel necklace and pyrite setting of exceptional quality.
