Cet embl\u00e8me du Pays de Galles s\u2019affiche vaillamment sur le drapeau national, le dragon est omnipr\u00e9sent dans sa culture et son histoire .
\nLa l\u00e9gende \u00e9voque une lutte acharn\u00e9e entre le dragon rouge du pays de Galles et le dragon blanc de l\u2019Angleterre. Au cours de la bataille, le dragon blanc prit le dessus et r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 capturer son rival. Mais lorsque ce dernier parvint \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9chapper, il attaqua de nouveau et gagna. Ce dragon vainqueur est aussi \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la devise galloise : “le Dragon Rouge Donne de l\u2019Elan” (Y Ddraig Goch Ddyry Cychwyn en gallois).
\nCette tradition celte devint r\u00e9alit\u00e9 lorsque Henri Tudor, Roi d\u2019Angleterre et d\u2019Irlande choisit le dragon rouge comme embl\u00e8me. Sous le nom de Henri VII, il int\u00e9gra le dragon gallois aux armoiries royales jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que Jacques I le fasse remplacer par l\u2019unicorne \u00e9cossaise. En 1959, la Reine ordonna de nouveau que le dragon rouge sur fond vert et blanc devienne le drapeau officiel.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This emblem of Wales is valiantly displayed on the national flag, the dragon is omnipresent in its culture and history. The legend tells of a fierce struggle between the red dragon of Wales and the white dragon of England. During the battle, the white dragon gained the upper hand and managed to capture his rival. But when the latter managed to escape, he attacked again and won. This victorious dragon is also the origin of the Welsh motto: “The Red Dragon Gives Elan” (Y Ddraig Goch Ddyry Cychwyn in Welsh). This Celtic tradition became reality when Henry Tudor, King of England and Ireland chose the red dragon as his emblem. Under the name of Henry VII, he incorporated the Welsh dragon into the royal coat of arms until James I replaced it with the Scottish unicorn.
